Mabel was born in 1891 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania the daughter of Frederick and Mary Lather. She married William Howard Steele in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 24 Aug 1917. They had three children: Thomas, who died in infancy; Robert (Mary Francis Williams Steele) and Norma who never married. Mable died 18 June 1959 and is buried with Howard in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
