Body Of Dead Baby Discovered By Old Man At Helena Dump

Wrapped in paper and an old towel, the body of a new born baby was discovered yesterday in the rubbish at the city dump, according to information supplied the police. Authorities believe the baby was left there some time Sunday night as the package was slightly frozen to the ground.

The baby was found yesterday afternoon by an old attendant at the dump. A woman present on the grounds notified the police, who in turn called Dr. B. V. McCabe. It was taken to the Opp & Conrad mortuary for proper burial.

The old man discovered the baby as he was prodding through the debris looking for junk. After opening the package he excitedly left the place but was located later in the Northern Pacific railroad yards. He informed officers that he knew nothing about the case other than that he had opened the package.
