Nora Annie Simmons (Spears) Palmer
Nora Palmer was born on December 13, 1908 in Fox, Oklahoma, to William and Christine Simmons. She went on to be with the Lord on Monday September 22, 2003, at the age of 94.
Nora was a resident of a senior home in Tomball, Texas. She moved there 14 years ago to be near her oldest daughter, Betty, Before that, she was a resident of Clovis, California for 20 years. She was known around Clovis as Spearsie. She cared for her children in her home until the death of her husband Harley Spears. Nora then moved to Pinedale where she met and married Garland Palmer. Nora was an active member of the local Baptist Church. She and Garland were members of the senior group and Jolly Times activities. She became known then as Granny, thanks to her grandchildren and neighborhood children. She was renowned for her famous applesauce cake. She made applesauce cake for everyone at Christmas time. Her personality drew people to her for laughs and funny stories.
She was preceded on death by both her first and second husbands, her brothers and sister. She leaves behind her loving children Swemp Spears and wife Vera, Betty Tofft, Hazel Smalling, Fred Spears and wife Mable, Janice Hargis and husband Paul, Ada Johnson and husband Troy, 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Hospice nurses for the care which was given with love.
Graveside services will be held on Friday the 26th at 10:00 o'clock at the Clovis Cemetery. Clovis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
