Lorna Bonita Bernau, 89, of West Union, Iowa died February 28, 2020 at Stoney Brook Village, West Union, Iowa.

She was born December 14, 1930 to Milton and Agnes (Hegland) Eide at home in Castalia. Lorna graduated from West Union High School in 1948 and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa for two years.

Lorna was united in marriage with Albert “Cuddy” Bernau on April 9, 1955 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. Together they raised four children, Marcia, Cindy, Bruce and Nancy.

Lorna was a teacher, homemaker and along with her husband operated Cuddy’s Boot Hill Supper Club for twenty-five years.

She was an active member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church Morning Circle, the Presbyterian Women’s Group and was on Diaconate.

Lorna loved playing bridge and golfing with friends.

Lorna is survived by her children, Marcia (John) Schmitz of Northfield, Minnesota, Cindy (Greg) Chomic of Maitland, Florida, Bruce (Sarah) Bernau of Longmont, Colorado and Nancy (Pete) Hemstock of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Jill, Amy, Andrew, Brady, Jacob, Christopher and Max; four great-grandchildren, Nora, Nolan, Maryleigh and Adeline and a brother, Morris “Bud” (Janice) Eide of Elkader.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Bernau in 1999; her parents; two sisters, Inez Mae Eide and Marilyn Dahl and brother-in-law, Jerry Dahl.

Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2020 from 4-7 pm at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, West Union, Iowa with Rev. Don Best as the Officiant.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lorna’s name may be given to Bethel Presbyterian Church and West Union Rec Center.
