Mrs. Velma Ruth Loe, 88, of Hesperia died April 19, 2006, at the Apple Valley Christian Care Nursing Home in Apple Valley. Born on April 7, 1918, in Olena, Ark., Velma was the daughter of Charles Simpson and Ollie Kunkel and was active in the church all of her life. Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Louis R. Loe and two children, Leonard Woodward and Joyce Putnam-Tinbrink. She is survived by her brother, Leonard Simpson, two sons, Bruce Randall and Charles Woodward, and 12 grandchildren. A fellowship with food will be held at noon Saturday at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 11153 10th Ave. in Hesperia. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Don Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow the services at Desert View Memorial Park, 11500 Amargosa Road in Victorville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in VelmaÕs name can be made to the Victorville Hospice, Landkmark Missionary Baptist Church or Sloan Kettering Cancer Foundation. Desert View Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
