Known to his family and friends as “Jack,” he retired from the Air Force a Bronze Star recipient, achieving the rank of SMSgt, Superintendent of Security Police, after 29 years and 10 days of honorable service. Jack attended Virginia State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, before enlisting in the Air Force. His first assignment was at Johnson Air Base, Tokyo, Japan, where he met Sachiko Ito, who throughout his life he would always describe as “the prettiest girl in Japan.” Their love for one another and family spanned 63 years before death separated them.Together, Jack and Sachiko had two daughters, Cindy Jackson, a resident of Alexandria, VA and Shery Jackson-Rosenthal, a resident of Fort Walton Beach, FL.
Throughout Jack’s career his Air Force duties took him to Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Germany, and several bases throughout the United States. His love for travel and adventure was shared by his family. After being transferred to Germany in January 1976, he developed an interest in volksmarching, curling, and enjoyed speed driving on the autobahn. He loved to discuss his military adventures and always believed you should learn something new every day. Nothing could match his fierce passion for his family.
