Born in Conifer, Pa., Mr. Galeotti resided in De Lancey, Pa., before moving to the Hamilton area in 1947.
He was an honorably discharged U. S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired in 1987 as a machinist from Congoleum Industries after 40 years of service.
He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows-St. Anthony Parish of Mercerville and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Hamilton Council #6213.
Mel was predeceased by his parents, Anacleto and Agnes Galeotti; a sister and her husband, Amelia and Louis Chiarello of Hamilton; a sister and her husband, Anorina (Nora) and Ralph Chiarello of Warrington, Pa.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Milena (Papi) Galeotti; a son, James and his wife Emma Galeotti of Severn, Md.; a sister-in-law, Jennie Mandl and her husband Frank of Florida; a brother-in-law, Dario Papi and his wife Peggy of New Castle, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Jerry Papi and his wife Sandra of Ebony, Va.; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
The funeral will begin 10 a.m. Monday at the Saul Memorial Home, 1740 Greenwood Ave., Hamilton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church, 3816 East State Street Ext., Mercerville.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery Hamilton Township, N.J.
Family and friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Galeotti's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
