BOOTHBAY HARBOR
Lt. Col. Raymond R. Greenleaf~ 61, died here
Monday in an area hospital.
He was born here, the son of Lewis Sheldon and
Jessie Boston Greenleaf, and graduated from Boothbay
Harbor High School. He attended the University of
Maine, University of Wisconsin, Northeastern University
and graduated from Suffolk with a B.A. in business
administration.
He served in the Army during World War II as a medic
and received two Bronze Star medals for heroic duty.
He also was an Army Air Force veteran of the Korean
conflict. He was a patrolman with the Boothbay Harbor
Police Department.
In 1963, he began a grocery business in Boothbay Harbor
with his mother. From 1953 to 1980, he worked for
J. Edward Knight Insurance Co.; he later
became owner.
From 1954 to 1957 be was a member of the Maine House
of Representatives. He was Director of Lincoln County Civil
Defense during the same period, as well as a member of the
Boothbay Harbor Water Commission. He was chairman
of the eastern advisory board of the Canal National Bank.
