Mary Jane Pitts 56, passed away monday evening, June 30,2003 at her home in White City, Kansas.
Mary Jane was born October 28,1946 in Topeka Kansas, the youngest child of Homer and Mary Elizabeth Irene (Butters) Reppart. She was a 1964 graduate of Marion High School. She attended Emporia State University and had worked for the State of Kansas.
She was united in marriage to Ralph L. Pitts III on April 13, 1968 at Eskridge Kansas. They lived in Topeka and Dwight and moving to White City in 1979.
Mary Jane was a homemaker and had worked part time for the Andres Insurance Agency in White City for several years..
She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #299 at White City, a former member of the Dizzy Dames EHU and was instrumental in starting the PEP parent support group for the White City schools. She was a active member of the White City Summer Ball Association for many years while her children were playing on the summer ball teams. Mary Jane actively supported all activitied at the school and had worked as a volunteer with the kindergarten screening as well as numerous other school activities.
Mary Jane served on the White City city council for eight years, working hard to secure a cable television provider for the city. She had also served as secretary of the Morris County Crimestoppers for several years.
Mary Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her oldest granddaughter, Baylee and had anxiously awaited the birth of her two youngest grandchildren, Meagan and Jarrett who were born two months ago.
Survivors include her husband Ralph of the home, two daughters, Kim Pitts of Kileen Texas and Jayme Urban and her husband John of Topeka. Two sons, Shawn Pitts and his wife Elissa of Loveland Colorado and J.J. Pitts and his wife Jamie of Nortonville, Kansas and Jarett Pitts of Loveland, Colorado, a sister Donna Kristek and her husband Steve of Lincolnville, Kansas. Two brothers Burke Reppart and his wife Jean of Emporia and John Reppart and his wife Kumi of Walnut Creek, California. Several neices and nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Mary Reppart and a brother William Reppart.
Cremation was planned with memorial services held at the White City United Methodist Church on July 12, 2003 at 10 a.m.
Mary Jane was my aunt and was so much fun to be around, her laugh was so contagious and loved being around her family and friends. She is so dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
