Born on May 01, 1946, in Van Wert, the son of the late Glenn Bates and Clara (Spring) Bates.
Roger retired from the Chrysler Amplex in Van Wert.
Roger was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam.
Surviving is a son, Scott Bates of Van Wert; 2 grandchildren; sisters, Betty "Babe" Woodruff, Catherine Reichert, and Margy Bates all of Van Wert.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Sargent; and brothers, Richard Bates; and Jack Bates- who died in infancy.
