John [Johannes] C. Link was a son of Jacob and Sarah (Shuford) Link of Lincoln (later Catawba) County. Jacob and Sarah lived their last years in Caldwell County but were buried in the Henry W. Link cemetery, Catawba County, at their deaths. John C. Link married Eliza Reinhardt Poovey April 20, 1845. Bondsman for the marriage was John Link.
John C. Link enlisted for Confederate service 15 Oct. 1861 in Caldwell Co., NC as a Private. Enlisted Company K, 35th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 29 October 1861. Rank out was also as a Private.
