Kenneth L. Brand, 72, of Kearney died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, at CHI Good Samaritan in Kearney.
Kenneth L. Brand was born Aug. 5, 1947, in Oxford to Frank and Ruth (Harrold) Brand. He was raised in Kearney and received his education from Kearney High School, graduating with the class of 1966.
Ken proudly served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 14, 1969, until his honorable discharge on Jan. 13, 1975. Following his discharge, Ken traveled to all 50 states and lived in Hawaii for several years.
In his younger years, Ken enjoyed painting until his health and eyesight no longer allowed him to continue. Most of his artwork was given away to family members and people in the community.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Ryan Brand of Davis, Calif.; sisters, Mildred Spence of Lexington, Ruth Little of Rocky Mount, N.C., Donna Cusick (Jack) of Littleton, Colo., and Patricia Hillyer (Lacy) of Peyton, Colo.; brothers, Frank Brand of San Mateo, Calif., Harold Brand of Norfolk, Va., and Richard Brand (Jeanne) of Edwardsville, Ill.; aunt, Carol Theobald of Beaver City; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Eldon Brand, Merna Shearer Haught and Robert Brand; nephew, Scott Brand; and niece, Ruth Ann Brand.
Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Area Animal Shelter.
