Floyd Wayne Banes, 89, of North English died at his home Saturday, December 26, 1992, following a long illness.
He was born September 19, 1903, on a farm southwest of North English, the son of Owen and Ina Anderson Banes. He attended Grant Country school.
He married Eva Marie Harris January 11, 1925, in Sigourney. They farmed near North English until moving to town in January 1959.
He owned and operated Banes Electric and the North English Laundromat for many years. He served on the North English Co-op Telephone Board several years.
He was a member of the North English Triumph Masonic Lodge 479, later transferring to the Farmers Lodge 169, Kinross. He had served as Past Worshipful Master. He was also a former member of the El Kahir Shrine, Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Irene (Mrs. Leon) Blaylock of South English; two sons, Larry of North English and Lyle of Granite City, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, at the North English Cemetery, Keith Mason officiating.
A memorial fund has been established.
