James Wesley (Jim) Alley Jr.
On the evening of July 19, Jim gained his angel wings. He was a gentle man that loved his family. Jim was born October 15, 1931 in Uvalde, Texas to James Sr. and Sallie Alley. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Alley, and sister Nelldean Kinney.
He is survived by his wife Lavonne and two daughters Earlene (Dean) Roquemore and Kara (Lee) Slaugh. Four granddaughters Amanda (Matthew) Gross, Tiffany (Tim Velasquez) Roquemore, Angela (Billy) Corliss, and Tanisha (Chris) Chapman. He was also blessed with five Great Grandchildren: Leeland Slaugh, Gabriella Gross, Addison and Wesley Chapman, and Braxton Corliss.
Jim was proud of his service as a Navy Seabee. He retired from El Paso Natural Gas after 30 years. He worked in the plants at Blanco, San Juan River, and Chaco. He also worked in the field out of Ballard Plant. He enjoyed volunteering as a Reserve Deputy for the SJCSO.
A celebration of life will take place at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 25, at Cope Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 9 am to 10 am. Internment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are Matthew Gross, Tim Velasquez, Billy Corliss, Chris Chapman, Harold Larkins, and Scott Arinder. Honorary Pallbearers are Dean Roquemore and Lee Slaugh.
The family would like to thank Visiting Angels, Guardian Angels, and P.A.L.S. for all their help and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
