Ruth Davis was the eldest of five children: Milton E. born about March 1892; Jessie E. born about May 1896; William L. born about March 1898; and Eva A. born in 1904.
On December 17, 1912, Anna Ruth Davis and Lawrence M Ricketts were married in the District of Columbia.
They had three children: Milton Ernest; Dorothy; and Lawrence Jr.
Their son Lt. Milton Ernest Ricketts, died on May 8, 1942, in the Battle of the Coral Seas. He was in charge of a damage control party on board the USS Yorktown. When a Japanese bomb exploded, he was able to take on successful fire-fighting measures despite being mortally wounded. For his actions, Lt. Ricketts was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
Mrs. Ricketts died on November 27, 1966, at her home in Baltimore, Maryland. She had been a member of the Grace Methodist Church and the Women's Club of Roland Park.
She was survived by her husband, L. Merle Ricketts; a son Lawrence M. Ricketts Jr. a daughter Mrs. B. S. (Dorothy) Crosby, Jr; a sister Mrs. John H. (Eva) Von Dreele and seven grandchildren.
Services were held on November 30, 1966, at the Tickner Funeral Home. Burial was at the Druid Ridge Cemetery.
