Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Ronald Reimer. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born February 25, 1921, in Manitowoc, son of the late William C. and Edna Mittnacht Kurth. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in 1938. He served overseas with the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He had been employed with Manitowoc Shipbuilding. He owned and operated Kurth’s Grocery in Manitowoc and later he managed the Budgetel Inn, retiring in March of 1983. He was married to Loyola L. Muchner June 19, 1943, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death June 23, 1987. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, William J. Kurth of Madison, Joseph P. Kurth of Manitowoc, Lester M. and Kathleen Kurth of Denmark; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathryn and Dennis Franz of Manitowoc, Tina and Jack Johanek of Whitelaw, Miss Barbara Kurth of Manitowoc; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Doris and Roy Gegel of Huron, S.D., Jeanette Fidler, JoAnn and Paul Hoyer both of Manitowoc; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Genevieve Kurth of Ephraim, Wis., Paul Kurth of Manitowoc; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Greta, Holly and Dennis Franz, John and Jeremy Johanek, Brianna and Heather Kurth; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Margaret Kurth, and a brother-in-law, Victor Fidler.
Friends may call at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Monday, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. this evening led by Deacon William Klein.
