Obituary of Meda Frances Pratt Adkins
Meda Frances Pratt Adkins was born Jan. 20, 1864 in Ripon, Wis. She was a daughter of Mr. A.B. Pratt who came from New England to Ripon June 8th, 1856. He is of the old puritan stock and is not ashamed of his ancestry.
She was a graduate of Ripon High School and taught in same for 8 years.
She was married April 26, 1893 to Mr. M.V. Adkins and removed to Chicago where they lived until last January, when they moved back to Ripon.
She enjoyed good health until the age of 17 or 18 years when she was attacked with heart difficulty which greatly weakened her physically and caused at two or three times partial strokes.
She was an affectionate daughter, loving sister and a devoted wife, and had hosts of admiring friends.
She made a profession of religion at an early day and joined the Methodist church and lived a faithful Christian life until death called her home. Her mother preceeded her to the better land Feb. 5, 1894. She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband and father, an affectionate step mother and three brothers, one of whom lives in Texas, one in Missouri and the other, who was a favorite with her and resided with her in Chicago, is now ill at his father's home.
She was found unconscious in her room at her home last Friday afternoon about three o'clock and remained so until Saturday, May 27, at ten o'clock when she passed to her reward. "Accepted perfect and complete, For God's inheritance made meet. How true, how glorious, and how sweet."
The funeral was held Monday at 2:30 at the house, Rev. Grant and Rev. E.H. Merrell spoke, and Rev. E.G. Hamley lead in prayer; A select choir furnished very appropriate music for the occassion. The flower decorations were many and very beautiful. The remains were laid at rest in the old cemetery.
