Born to William and Hannah May McFarlane Platt in Stockton, Utah on June 27, 1908, she was the eldest and only daughter of five children and is survived by her youngest brother, Ernest A. (Dot) Platt. She married Frank R. Barrett in Salt Lake City on May 14, 1927 and is survived by her son, William F. (Pat) Barrett of Bothel, Washington; and by her daughter, Luanne (Niles W.) Peterson of Centerville, UT. She also leaves nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many loving and dearly loved nieces and nephews and an "Honorary" son, Dr. Dan Oniki of Cottonwood.A long-time member of Radiant Chapter #12 OES, she was a volunteer at Shriners' Hospital for Children and did much volunteer knitting and handwork for University Hospital Neo-Natal Unit, Head Start and Operation Smile.
The family extends sincere thanks to Bobbie, Charlene, Lynn and others at Columbia Health Care, who made it possible for her to fulfill her wish to stay in her own home until the end.
Funeral services will be Monday, 2 p.m., visitation Sunday 6 to 7 p.m. and 1/2 hour prior to services at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 E. 100 South, Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested for the Intermountain Unit Shriners' Hospital for Children or Primary Children's Hospital. Private interment.
