She was born on February 24, 1937 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Wilfred J. “Fritz” and Mable Rose (Hart) Smith. She married Arthur DeWert on February 16, 1955 in Monroeville, Indiana and he preceded her in death on July 19, 2009.
Marvene had worked in production at Magnavox in Fort Wayne. Following her time at Magnavox, she was employed by General Electric in Fort Wayne, Van Crest Nursing Home in Van Wert, and also Famous Hair in Decatur.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved buying and making jewelry, start…and finish puzzles, and enjoying her favorite Margarita.
She is survived by daughter, Jeanette (Judson) Fee of Rockmart, Georgia; son, Gary DeWert of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Babette (Edward) Bland of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Nannette (Jeff) Wynn of Yoder, Indiana; daughter, Paulette (Steven) Heuer of Spring, Texas; daughter, Suzette McKee of Convoy, Ohio; and son, Gayle (Jill) DeWert of Van Wert, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Jeremy Coonrod, Joshua DeWert, Felicia DeWert, Sara Mattiello, Ashley Stephenson, Megan Klender, Landen McKee, Christopher Fee, Cole DeWert, Gavin DeWert, Aksel Heuer, ChaniRae Heuer, Jessica Scott, and Nicholas Bland; and 12 great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kadence, Sydney, Jaylene, Jaxson, Jazmyn, Mason, Elisha, Damein, Marcus, Paislee, and Lilly.
Due to guidelines established by the State of Indiana in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, private family services will be held and burial will be at a later date at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Convoy, Ohio.
