Raymond J. Wilson, age 97, formerly of 416 Park Lane, Mishicot, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003 at the Hamilton Memorial Home in Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, Aug. 18, 2003 at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. Robert Johannes officiating, with burial to follow in the Forest View Cemetery in Two Rivers.

Ray was born on June 26, 1906 in the town of Gibson to the late Norman Sr. and Emma Stueck Wilson and has been a lifelong area resident. He married the former Margaret Schroeder in 1937 and she preceded him in death in 1950. He then married Helen Fabian in 1957 and she preceded him in death in 1969. Ray later married Olivia Engelbrecht in 1973 and she preceded him in death in 2000. Ray did custom farming for his entire life and also worked as a gravedigger for area cemeteries for many years. He served on the town of Gibson board for many years. He was an excellent dancer and enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and Bible stories. Ray loved to garden and visiting with his family and friends. He loved to talk to people.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Janice and Bib Kakes of Two Rivers; Joyce Marcelle of Two Rivers; six grandchildren, Steven Kakes, Douglas (Katherine) Kakes, Kevin Kakes, Tony (Jolene) Marcelle, Lisa (Bob) Rocheleau, Ron (Wendy) Marcelle and 10 great grandchildren. He is further survived by one stepson, Eldor and Linda Engelbrecht of Bellevue; two step daughters, Bonita and Larry Hoffman of Green Bay and Elaine Thiel of Green Bay; eight step grandchildren and by several step great grandchildren; one brother, Norman Wilson Jr., of DePere; a sister-in-law, Irma Wilson of Manitowoc and by his nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a step grandson and by three sisters, Mabel Tapp, Viola Wegner and Nora Wilda and by one brother, John Wilson.

Relatives and friends may call after 9 am on Monday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot until the time of service at 11 am. There will be no Sunday evening visitation. The Lambert - Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the Wilson family with funeral arrangements.

The Wilson family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff of the Hamilton Memorial Home for their love, special care and concern shown to Ray and our family during Ray's illness and to his special friends who took him for rides and out for breakfast.
