Wallace B. Vaughn, 74, retired Two Rivers millwright, who in earlier years was in the general construction contracting business in the west, died at the Two Rivers Municipal hospital shortly after midnight. He had been a hospital patient for the past two weeks and had been ill for a year.
Funeral services will be held in Two Rivers Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock at the Klein and Stangel, Inc., funeral home under the auspices of the Two Rivers Lodge of Odd Fellows No. 66. Interment will be in Forest View cemetery. The body may be viewed at the funeral home from Saturday evening until the hour of services.
Wallace Vaughn was born at Antigo on August 8, 1869, and had made his home there until 1910 when he removed to the west to establish a general contracting firm. Five years later he disposed of his business and took up his residence at Clintonville where he was engaged in war work during the first world conflict. In 1923 he and his family came to Two Rivers and took employment at the Aluminum Goods Manufacturing company, Plant No. 4 as a millwright. Later he worked in the same capacity at the F. Eggers Plywood & Veneer company, retiring six years ago. Mr. Vaughn was widely known for his inventing of mechanical devices and had held two patents on improved feed cutters and concrete mixers.
Surviving are his widow, the former Erma Vaughn whom he married at Antigo 40 years ago, and a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Brault, 2112 12th street, Two Rivers, with whom the Vaughns have made their home. There is also one grandchild.
