James Thomas, 63, of 1731-28th St., Two Rivers, a World War I veteran and an employe of Hamilton Mfg. Co., Two Rivers, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home Wednesday afternoon. He had been treated for a heart condition for more than a year.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Congregational Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Carl Ipsen, pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Mr. Thomas was born at Sherwood, Calumet county, April 3, 1895, a son of the late Joseph and Anna Wertz Thomas. He served in the Air Corps in World War I and later for 10 years held the position of Superintendent of Calumet County Highway Dept. shops at Chilton. During World War II he worked at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. He resided at Manitowoc, until nine years ago, coming to Two Rivers, where he previously had been employed with Hamilton Mfg. Co.

Surviving are his wife the former Ethel Demsien Hartman, whom he married at Grace Congregational Church, Two Rivers, May 8, 1953; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Cronk of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Lloyd Kresheck of Two Rivers; a son, Richard of Two Rivers; three brothers, Hugo and John of Chilton and Norbert of Hilbert, and three grandchildren.

Friends may call at Klein & Stangel Inc. Funeral Home, Two Rivers, until 11 a.m. Friday when the casket will be taken to the church where the body will lie in state until the time of service.
