Mrs. Hans B. Tangen, 90, of 1112 Margaretha St., Two Rivers died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Ralph Backman officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery.
Mrs. Tangen, nee Kristine Ellen Edwardson, was born Feb. 13, 1881, at Idanger, Norway, daughter of the late Nels and Ellen Edwardson. She was married in 1900 to Hans B. Tangen in the 12th century Gjerpen Lutheran Church at nearby Skien, Norway. In 1905, the family immigrated to this country, settling at Two Rivers. A longtime resident of Two Rivers' south side, having made her home in later years with a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Margaret) Mermuys, she and her husband were among the founding members of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her husband died Jan. 14, 1949.
Mrs. Tangen was active in flower gardening and in Scandinavian handcraft and was a longtime member of the Senior Citizens of Two Rivers.
Besides the daughter, Mrs. Tangen leaves four other daughters, Mrs. Wenzel (Solvieg) Kopetsky of Two Rivers, Mrs. Frederick (Mildred) Kaeser of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Helen Tangen Johnson of Alameda, Calif., and Mrs. Verne (Ardith) Tenney of San Mateo, Calif.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Three sons, Einar, Nels and Edwin Tangen, preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, from 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday. The casket will be taken to the church at 10:30 a.m. where the body will lie in state until the time of service.
