James Ephraim CONNOR was the son of James Wesley CONNOR, born May 23, 1851 in Ireland, and his wife Christena "(Tena") Lydia WAGNER.

The June 11, 1880 US Census shows the family living in Seven Mile Creek, Carbon Co., Wyoming. His father, James Wesley CONNOR was a 29 year old farmer. His mother Christena was going by her nickname, Tena. She was 23 years old. The only child they had at the time was their son James Ephraim CONNOR who was 1 year old. They eventually had 5 more children.

His mother Christena drove a covered wagon in a wagon train with her children, and her parents, from Laramie, Wyoming to Whittier, California in about 1896. There was no mention of her husband (James Ephraim CONNOR's father) so it's unknown if he came too or what happened to him but it's believed that he died before they left Wyoming. There's a James Wesley CONNOR on www.findagrave.com that died in Laramie, Wyoming about that time that some people researching this family think was him but the story on find a grave doesn't match the family story so I don't think it was him.

The July 11, 1900 US Census of Rowland, Los Angeles Co., California shows that James Ephraim's mother Tena was a 45 year old widow so his father died between 1880 and 1890.

In 1898, in Lordsburg (now LaVerne) Los Angeles Co., California, James Ephraim CONNOR married Elizabeth (aka Lizzie) Mae BRUBAKER. She was born Aug. 1, 1881 in Maxwell, Story Co., Iowa, daughter of Joseph S. L. BRUBAKER, Jr., and his wife, Mary S. GARBER. James Ephraim and Elizabeth had 5 children: Willard, Verna (aka Bonnie), James Gordon, Claris, and Kenneth.
