Viola Steltz, age 97, a resident of Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, died Sunday afternoon, June 25, 2006, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Kay S. Richter with burial in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Viola was born Aug. 24, 1908 to the late William and Anna Pisha Frank in Kewaunee. graduated June 4, 1923 from Common School District Two, town of Two Rivers with first honor. In 1927 she married Albert E. Fanslau; he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1950. In December 1953, she married Herbert Steltz; he preceded her in death March 25, 1977. Viola worked at the Hamilton Manufacturing Co. during World War II, with the making of ammunition containers. After the war, she worked in their juvenile department making baby cribs and playpens. She attended many different craft classes at the Vocational School in cooking, sewing, and leather craft, making purses, upholstery, hats and etc. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, making cookies with them. She also spent time making quilts at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Albert R. and Dolores Fanslau and Thomas and Ginger Steltz, all of Two Rivers; grandchildren: Michael Fanslau, St. Cloud, Minn.; Karen Gass, Manitowoc; Julie Steltz, Sheboygan; Ellen and Roger Daudelin, New Jersey; David and Nancy Steltz, Manitowoc; Barbara Waschbisch, Greendale; and John and Desire'e Steltz, Seymour; great-grandchildren: Brian and Adam Fanslau; Melissa and Matthew Gass; Casey Daudelin; Allison and Danielle Steltz; Joshua and Megan Waschbisch; Brooklyn and Dawson Steltz. She is further survived by two brothers and one sister-in-law: Louis Frank, Two Rivers, and Norman and Ann Frank, Hawaii, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son: Robert Fanslau; sisters and brothers: Lillian Paplham; Augusta Pfankuck; Esther Gass; George Frank; Minerva Whitsman; Richard Frank; and great- granddaughter: Dana Gass.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels of Two Rivers on Wednesday evening, June 28, 2006, from 4 to 7 p.m., and also on Thursday morning at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

She will be remembered by her family, relatives and friends for her baking, cooking and canning, especially her kolaches and pickles.
