William Campbell was born around 1810 in Ireland. He married Jane (maiden name unknown) around 1852, probably in Philadelphia, PA. Nothing else is currently known about him before this time. In 1853, he lived with the Armstrong (Jane) family on Church W Sch. Front, working as a laborer. The address had a number of names over the years, but likely was the same street, later known as Shamokin. In 1854 he was listed as being a limeburner. In 1858 and 1859 his occupation was merely listed as "shop". For many years later, he was listed as a laborer. He was a member of Convenant Presbyterian Church. Campbell died of emphysema on June 6, 1886 in Philadelphia, PA. He was buried two days later on June 8th beside his wife Jane in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
