Doris Mae Bergelin answered the call of God to come home to be with Him and accept the full inheritance He promised Doris, at the time of her baptism, November 9, 1930, confirmed in that faith on May 28, 1944. She was born October 17, 1930, in Reedsville, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Hubert and Clara (Dickert) Kroening. She attended St. John St. James Lutheran School in Reedsville and Reedsville High School, graduating in 1948. She married Melvin Bergelin on October 1, 1949, at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville.

They farmed their entire life. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert. She was a member of Ladies’ Aid, Christian Fellowship, LWML, and was actively involved in her church her entire life.

She is survived by her children: Rev. Darrel (Deede) Bergelin of Howards Grove, WI, Grace (Larry) Grass of Emma, MO, and Dean (Jan) Bergelin of Hilbert, WI; 15 grandchildren: Dianna (Davon) Bultemeier, Rev. David Bergelin and fiancé, Molly, Dawn (Jared) Kesel, Denise Bergelin, Daniel Bergelin, Rev. Douglas Bergelin, Doreen (Garon) Schnepel, Darren Bergelin, Derek Bergelin, Darci (Rev. Tim) Fraker, Mark (Melissa) Grass, Shari Grass, Joshua (Erin) Grass, Rebekah Grass, and Rebekah Bergelin; 14 great-grandchildren: Luke, Jacob, and Elena Bultemeier, Sarah, Patrick, and Olivia Kesel, Henry Schnepel, Caleb, Krista, and Cara Fraker, Caitlynn, Jonathan, Emily, and Eian Grass; sister: Janet Buboltz of Brillion; sister-in-law: Margaret Kroening of Brillion; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin; her brother: Harlan Kroening; brother-in-law: Eugene Buboltz; brother and sister-in-law: Donald and Loretta Kroening; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Armin and Gladys Bergelin, and Oscar and Malinda Hedrich.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Willow Park Place and Heartland Hospice for their excellent care of Doris.

To the praise and glory of her Lord, we celebrate Doris’s new life and rejoice in her victory through Christ over death.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 3, 2020 at St. Peter Lutheran Church (43 N 3rd St.) in Hilbert with Rev. Mark Krueger offiicating. Friends may call at church from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM for a time of visitation.
