The film directed by Lambert Hillyer also starred Olive Thomas in the title role of 'Claire Curtis.' He was born John Frank Burke, to George Albert Burke and Sarah Jane Burke in Hartland, Vermont, and he began his acting career by appearing on stage. He first appeared on the stage at the Manhattan Theatre in New York City in the comedy stage play, "A Stranger In A Strange Land," under the name of Frank Burke. The play directed by Joseph R. Grismer and starring Kate Lester, Walter Clifford, Jane Corcoran, Cyril Scott, Charles W. Swain, James T. Galloway, Walter Hale, and many others, ran from September 25, 1899, through the month of November 1899, for 57 performances. He also appeared on Broadway in New York City in several stage productions. A star of the silent film era, he ended up in Hollywood, California, at some point and made his film debut in an undetermined role in the Civil War drama, "The Battle Of Gettysburg" in 1913. His other film credits include, "The Buccaneers" (1913), "The Fires Of Ambition" (1914), "Tennessee" (1914), "A Frontier Mother" (1914), "The Gun Fighter" (1915), "The Bride Of Guadalupe" (1915), "The Alien" (1915), "The Soul Of Phyra" (1915), "The Waifs" (1916), "The No-Good Guy" (1916), "Hell's Hinges" (1916), "Bawbs O' Blue Ridge" (1916), The Vagabond Prince" (1916), "The Dawn Maker" (1916), "The Iced Bullet" (1917), "Madcap Madge" (1917), "A Strange Transgressor" (1917), Princess Of The Dark" (1917), and "Whither Thou Ghoest" (1917).
