NACOGDOCHES - Funeral services for Bob Bobo, 87, of Douglass, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Douglass, with the Rev. John McGuire of Garrison, the Rev. Don Chumley of Nacogdoches, and the Rev. Ken Baker of Palestine officiating. Burial will follow in Douglass Cemetery.

Mr. Bobo died Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 30, 1920, in Nacogdoches County, to John H. Bobo and Fannie Jackson Bobo. His wife of 65 years, Erleta Flowers Bobo, preceded him in death on October 28, 2005.

As a member of First Baptist Church in Douglass, for his entire adult life, he ministered in many ways to others through the church. He served as a deacon for more than 50 years, as Sunday school superintendent for 40 years, and served on various other committees. One of his last areas of service was leading in the building of the present fellowship center, which was named the Bob Bobo Fellowship Center in his honor.

He enjoyed life and was affectionately known as Daddy Bob to family and friends. He was a Godly role model to all who knew him. He had many loves, the first being his love for God. He loved his family dearly, his friends and his work.

He spent most of his life in the sawmill business, and for many years, he was co-owner of Bobo Brothers Lumber Company. He loved to travel and also enjoyed his many hunting trips to South Texas. He was involved in many good causes. He was instrumental in establishing the Douglass Volunteer Fire Department, serving as the first fire chief. He helped form the Douglass Water Corporation and served on the board for many years. In his work as a Gideon, he helped distribute Bibles to many area schools. He will be remembered always for his service to God, family, and community.

Mr. Bobo was preceded in death by his wife, Erleta Flowers Bobo; his parents; son-in-law, Billy Chumley; two sisters, Agnes Mayfield and Cleo Spears; four brothers, J.E. Bobo, Melvin Bobo, Bill Bobo, and twin brother, Victor Bobo.

Surviving Mr. Bobo are his daughters and sons-in-law, Donnie Chumley of Douglass, Linda and Donald Alexander of Nacogdoches, and Rhonda and Steve Barnes of Longview; grandsons and wives, Don and Charlene Chumley of Nacogdoches, Dan and Carla Chumley of Douglass, Robert and Kelle Alexander of Frisco, and Andrew Barnes of Longview; great-grandchildren, Claire Pentecost and husband, Wesley of Baytown, Douglas Chumley, Grey Chumley and Jenni Chumley of Nacogdoches, Saran Chumley of Rusk, Isabella Alexander and Zoey Alexander of Frisco; step great-granddaughter, Julia Lanham of Douglass; as well as one great-great-granddaughter, Kayley Pentecost of Baytown.

Pallbearers will be Don Chumley, Dan Chumley, Douglas Chumley, Grey Chumley, Donald Alexander, Robert Alexander, Steve Barnes and Andrew Barnes.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church in Douglass, Wilsie Clark and Jimmy Scott.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Douglass.
