LILLIAN KJERNISTED June 16, 1921 - October 15, 2018 Peacefully on October 15, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at the age of 97.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Janice (Brian) and Joy (Don), her son Lorne (Sue), her son-in-law Sandy, seven grandchildren, Paul (Kim), Mark (Margo), Jillian (Terry), Tyler, Jamie (Brendin), Allison and Kacey, seven great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Grace, Sarah, Avery, Rhys, Adley, Brinley, and many nieces and nephews.

Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband Clifford, her daughter Valerie, her parents, Nicholas and Anastasia, and her sisters, Jean and Elsie.

Mom was born in Winnipeg, attending Faraday and St. John's High School. Following high school she worked at Eaton's for many years when one of her fellow workers introduced her to Clifford in the spring of 1946. It was love at first sight, and they were married in September that year. They bought their first home in St. Vital, where they raised their children, spending countless hours volunteering in the community and at Glenwood Community Club.

Summers were always fun with camping trips to Falcon Lake, and many trips across the country. Mom always made life fun; she planned picnics to the park and the pool, we went skating, she loved to go for long walks and took us on many bus trips downtown. She was always game for a new adventure. Even after Dad's untimely passing in 1983, Mom continued to live life always surrounded by her family. Family was the most important thing in her life and she loved when everyone was together. She loved to garden and cook and continued to volunteer and take many bus trips with Age & Opportunity. Mom had an amazingly sharp memory. She always read the newspaper back to front and was up to date on all the current events. She could always tell you in great detail information that most of us could hardly remember and if you needed to know something all you had to do was call her and she could instantly recall the details. Mom loved sports, especially the Manitoba Moose, Winnipeg Jets, the Blue Bombers and the Goldeyes and always watched the games on TV or listened on the radio. In May 2018, her failing health forced her from her home into a care facility. The family would like to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their caring and compassionate care over the last few months. A private family burial has taken place. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, donations can made to a charity of your choice. E.J. Coutu & Co. Funeral Directors 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.ca
