Harlan J. Scheer, age 80, of 1523-16th St., Two Rivers, died Sunday night, Sept. 4, 2005 after a lingering illness, at the North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc, with his family at his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Arndt, with burial to follow in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Harlan was born Oct. 17, 1924 in Two Rivers, a son of the late Henry and Lottie Kotarek Scheer. He attended public schools in Two Rivers, graduating from Washington High School with the class of 1944. Harlan then served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army. On June 8, 1946, he was married to Jean Grade at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Harlan worked as a tool and die maker with J & K Tool & Die Manufacturing of Two Rivers for many years and later was employed at the Metal Ware Corporation until retiring in 1987. He was a longtime member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golfing and craftwork.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dave Warden, Two Rivers; two grandchildren, Dawn (Mike) LaFleur, and Brett Warden, all of Two Rivers; and three great-grandsons, Joshua, Jacob and Zachary LaFleur. He is further survived by one sister, Adeline Gill, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law, Rachel Scheer, Two Rivers; special friends, Avis and Dennis Bleick, Two Rivers; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, after 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no visitation this evening.
