Roselyn Costa Annin

Born to Louis V. and Rosa Costa on June 10, 1920, she was the fourth of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lena Costa, Mary L. Bettencourt and Pauline Costa and brother, Louis V. Costa, and late husband Frank Mancebo in 1943. They married on June 19, 1938 in Tulare, CA.

After completing high school at Tulare Union, she joined the military serving in the Navy during World War II. Following military duty, she entered UCLA, graduating with honors. She then taught English and Spanish for a few years at Tulare Union. Later she entered law school and became an attorney, practicing locally and then in San Francisco. Her future appeared bright, but after sometime it was apparent that her life was taking a different direction. She was beginning to show signs of mental illness but unfortunately did not seek medical treatment. In time, she relocated to Tipton, where her life became more of a struggle and though many family and community members tried to help her, she refused most of the help she was offered. It was a time of much turmoil for herself and her family. It is our hope that those that continued to help her know that as her surviving family, we are extremely grateful for whatever help you tried to give her.

In her final years, she found comfort at Merritt Manor Convalescent Home in Tulare where the staff gave her the attention she so badly needed. We would like to thank the staff for all of their care and also for Odyssey Hospice for the extra care and attention she received from their staff.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In her memory, donations can be made to: NAMI (National Association of Mental Health) of Tulare County, 1584 N. Gem St., Tulare, CA 93274, St. Aloysius Memorial Fund, 625 Beatrice Dr., Tulare, CA 93274, or the donors favorite charity.

Services provided by Miller's Tulare Funeral Home in Tulare.
Rosary and Mass will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church in Tulare. Private burial.
