Sandi is survived by her husband, Gene Ball of Highland Village; her son, Zackary Ball; stepdaughters Lezli and her husband, Joe Collins of Hickory Creek, Alicia and her husband, Paul Rinaldi of Richardson, and Kristi and her husband, Mark Tucker of Hickory Creek; a brother, Jack Brewer, of Litchfield NH; a sister, Belinda and her husband, John La Tulippe of Rochester NH; several nieces and nephews; and ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren whom she loved as her own. She is preceded in death by her parents, her stepparents and her sister, Tammy Westway, of Florida.
Growing up near Boston, Sandi had a life-long love for the ocean. She enjoyed swimming and listening to the waves. She attended Worcester Regional High School before earning an associate's degree in business at the local community college. She was an AVID Red Sox fan and watched every game with the enthusiasm of a child. She also spent many summers at her great grandfather Brousseau's farm in Montreal Canada. After moving to Texas, she met and married the love of her life, Gene Ball and became an instant "mother" and friend to his three grown daughters.
Sandi was a strong servant in her community and had a heart for helping others. She attended Church of the Resurrection and had previously written curriculum for and taught Sunday School. She also started the Cancer Resource Center at Lewisville Medical Center. After many years of service, in August 2017, the center was dedicated to her in a ceremony held at the hospital. She also received The Frist Humanitarian Award in recognition of her daily service and commitment to patients and the healthcare community through her work at the center.
The family of Sandi Ball would like to thank Dr. Dennis Costa for his loyalty to and his common-sense care of Sandy during her battle with cancer. The nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals at Lewisville Medical Center went above and beyond in their tender care for Sandi during this difficult time.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 7th, at Mulberry Cemetery in Mulberry, Texas with a memorial reception planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Sandi.
