He was employed by Schlosser Brothers for many years but had been more recently employed at the South Bend airport. He was married in 1916 to Inez Frenger. Surviving are the widow, his father Lawrence Edel, and the following children:

Two half-sisters, Mrs. Ethel Newhouse, Kenosha, Wis., and Mrs. Edith Fliefeld, Willoughby, Ohio, and a brother Walter Edel, of Bremen, also survive.
Funeral Services were held Monday in Grace United Brethren church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. E. C. Reidenbach, and the local fire department of which Mr. Edel had long been a member. The fireman's service was conducted by Raymond Coons of Michigan City, chaplain of the Indiana Fireman's Association. Burial was in the Bremen cemetery.
