She was the former Elaine Helen Appel, the daughter of William and Irene Peters Appel. She was married to Walter Kristapovich July , 1957. She was a member of the Bureau County Saddle Club and the Tri-City Saddle Club. She was survived by her husband Walter, two sons, Steven Carlile and Robert Carlile; three sisters: Jean Tieman (Peru), Betty Calders and Irene Watson of Spring Valley. She was preceded in death by a sister Marian, in 1947. Elaine Kristapovich was riding on the drawbar of a tractor and slipped and fell under the loaded corn wagon and died from injuries sustained.
