Nancy Peterson Adkins, age 75, of the Big Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 12th, 2020 at CarePartners Solace Center.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Maude Bennett Peterson.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Anita Tipton, Alma Jean Blankenship and Elaine Pittman; brother, Kermit Peterson; brothers-in-law: Bill Pittman, Vernon Peterson, Conway Blankenship, Raymond Whitson, Raymond Hightower and Donald "Don" Tipton.
Nancy was a member of Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church. She loved her flowers, gardening, crocheting, and quilting but will always be known for her excellent cooking.
Surviving is her loving husband of 58 years, Teddy Adkins; sons: Rodney Adkins of Jonesborough, TN and Joey Adkins of the home; sisters: Evelyn Peterson of Green Mountain, Virginia Hightower of Morganton, and Shirley Whitson of Green Mountain and brothers: Curley Peterson and wife, Norma Faye, Douglas Peterson and wife, Bonnie, Garnie Peterson and wife, Irene, Lincoln Peterson and wife, Brooke, and Randy Peterson all of Green Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15th at Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Robinson officiating. Private burial will be in Adkins Cemetery.
