Born in Lawrence on October 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Cleophas and Clara (St. Aubin) Deschenes. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Lawrence and was a very devote Catholic and longtime parishioner of St Patrick’s Parish in Lawrence. Rita enjoyed sewing, keeping her yard clean and tidy, and tending to her raspberry bushes. She also enjoyed playing cribbage and 45’s with her late husband and two sons.
Rita had a strong faith that pulled her through tough times, and an even stronger will, that made her who she was.
She was first and foremost a mom, then a Mémère. Totally devoted to her 2 handicapped sons, she selflessly cared for them, putting them first and foremost in her life until she was too weak to do so. She later entered Mary Immaculate Nursing home, and for 3 ½ years, enjoyed a well-deserved, restful, quality of life. She made new friends, played, & usually won at bingo, sang, and attended the weekly Mass. Praying the rosary was also extremely important to her. She is now among the angels and at peace in Heaven. She will be sadly missed by family, friends and all who met her.
Rita will be lovingly remembered by her two sons; David Kimball of Lawrence, and Paul Kimball of Haverhill. Three daughters; Margaret Stone and her husband Michael of Londonderry N.H., Diane Noel and her husband Raymond of Lawrence, and Carol Belinsky, and her husband Brian of Newton, N.H., and one sister; Alice Dumais of Methuen. She also leaves behind five grandchildren; Michelle, Michael, Alan, Stephanie & Marissa; 3 great grandchildren; Madilyn, Emma and Jake and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home for their dedication and support to Rita and especially during this very sad and trying time, when their touch and care meant so much to her and her family who were unable to be with her at the end of her life.
Due to the current pandemic, a graveside service at Immaculate Conception Cemetery will be private.
