Son of Richard Francis Daniel (1846–1922) and Flora Freeman Daniel (1866–1954); husband of Daisy Sawyer Daniel (1899–1988).
Manager of the B.C. Moore & C. Department Store since it was opened in 1933 in Newberry and was earlier connected to the J.D. Collins Co in Spartanburg for 26 years.
A veteran of World War I; a member of the First Baptist Church of Newberry, and took an active part in civic affairs in Newberry.
Other survivors include a son, Walter Travis Daniel, Jr.; daughter, Margaret Flora Daniel Sharpe Gaskins (1921–2014); sisters, Marie Daniel Coleman (1896–1981) and Anna Mary "Annie" Daniel Wilder (1876–1959); brothers, Andrew Jackson "A.J." Daniel and Prater Montgomery "P.M." Daniel; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 23, 1946, at the McSwain Funeral Home, Newberry, SC, followed by graveside services at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, conducted by Rev. Dr. Lewis H. Wright.
