For many years he has been prominently identified with the real- estate interest of this city and was well known in the community. He was a member of several social and benevolent societies, among others Adjutant of the Uniform Rank, Past Chancellor of Justice Lodge, No. 85, K of P., and Treasurer of the same organization; Past Officer of the Ancient Order of Foresters of America and Past Ranger of Court Justice, No. 7182, and past officer of the United Endowment Associates; Past Master of Valley Lodge, No. 30, A.O.U.W.
