He came to Ypsilanti in 1934 to attend Michigan State Normal College. He graduated from Detroit College of Law in 1941, practicing law in Ypsilanti until 1973. He was appointed Judge of the 14th District Court where he served until his retirement in 1985.
He was preceded in death by his paents; his wife, Ruth (Voorhies); his wife, Blanche (McLenna); three brothers and a sister.
He is survived by his wife, Kim (Dohrman); his brother Andrew James Fink of Federal Way, WA; his children, Karl V. (Jane) of Dexter; Andrew F. (Helen) of Westport,CT; Peggy (Sam) Fine of Ann Arbor; Lester L. (Pamela Heddle) of Ypsilanti; Robert V. (Bridgette) of Oxford, MA; Mary F. (Steven) Jentzen, James A. (Beth), and Olivia N., all of Ypsilanti; 31 grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Despite having a stroke in 1995, he continued to be a bold witness for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His strong unwavering faith was inspiring to those who knew him. His family is comforted by the knowledge that he is healed and safe in the arms of the Lord.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2002 at the St. Luke Lutheran Church, 4205 Washtenaw Road, Ann Arbor with Pastor Don Neuendorf and Pastor Mark Schulz co-officiating. Burial followed in Highland Cemetry. Stark Funeral Sevice, Moore Memorial Chapel served the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Paul Lutheran School, the Ypsilanti Historical Society, or the Salvation Army.
