Janet was born March 6, 1943 in Baxter Springs, Ks to the union of William Ora Griffth and Ruth Louise Price, they both preceded her in death.

Janet had one precious daughter Amanda (Mandy), who preceded her in death in 2012.

Janet "Grandma" S. Garrett passed away at Freeman Hospital on September 11, 2017 in Joplin, Mo. at the age of 74.

Janet is survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Sommer and Stephanie Sommer, both of Joplin, Missouri. Janet is also survived by three sisters, Martha McRae, Brenda Prauser and Joyce Martin.

Janet is also preceded in death a brother, James Ora Griffith.

Janet spent many years with her long-time friend, Jim Hall. They both enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, crafting, and visiting flea markets, Janet worked at Eagle Picher within various capacities and retired after 32 years.

Janet was an accomplished painter, often painting landscapes and portraits. She was a generous and talented individual who loved art and was passionate about capturing the beauty of the subjects she painted.
