Mr. Harry Herion, 70, of 1511 Division Street, Manitowoc, died Friday, September 19, 1986 at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay. Memorial service will be 8 pm Monday at Jens Funeral Home and Crematory, Manitowoc. Rev. Gerald Schrankler will officiate with cremation having taken place.

Mr. Herion was born September 13, 1907 in Gillmore Township, Michigan, son of the late Ervin and Evelyn Herion. He was educated and attended schools in Michigan. He married Luella Holub on April 10, 1937 at Waukegan, Illinois. He worked on the Great Lakes all his working years starting in June, 1935. Mr. Herion started his career in sailing June 25, 1935 and graduated from New London, Connecticut as a 3rd Mate and sailed in the Merchant Marines. Following that Mr. Herion received an Ensign in the Merchantine Service at Fort Trumbull, New London, Connecticut and later worked on the Great Lakes as a Wheelsman with the Ann Arbor Car Ferry Line on the Car Ferry Viking. He retired on August 31, 1972. Following retirement, Mr. Herion was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Luella of Manitowoc; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jack and Kay Herion of San Ramos, California and Dale Herion of Janesville, Wisconsin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Darrell Farr of Manitowoc and Jeanne and Dale Gonia of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Frances Weinert of Manistique, Michigan; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Jens Funeral home, Manitowoc, 7 pm Monday to the time of service. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Fund.
