Services: At 7 p.m. Thursday a rosary will be recited at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari. At 10 a.m. Friday a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anne's.

Elsie "Ostic" Lerke, 80, died on Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, in Albuquerque following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Lerke was born April 8, 1927, in Tucumcari and had been a lifetime resident of Tucumcari. She attended the Tucumcari School System and graduated from Tucumcari High School. For many years, until her retirement, she worked at the Tucumcari School System.
She had been an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Quay County Arts League, B.P.O. Does Drove # 210, The Six Shooter Siding Woodcarvers, Supervisory Committee of Everyone's Credit Union, The American Gourd Society, and the Ladies Swim Club. She was an active member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church. She was known for her gourd art throughout the local community.

She is survived by her husband James E. Lerke, two sons, Billy Bogard (Jan) of Flint, Texas, and Bruce Bogard (Louella) of Albuquerque; two stepdaughters, Bobby June Harmon (James) of Shallowater Texas, and Lynn Mosher (Jerry) of Albuquerque; two stepsons, Mike Lerke (Wanda) and Todd Lerke, all of Tijeras; three brothers, Jerry, Larry and Mark Ostic, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Anna C. (Martinez) Ostic, two brothers, Cleve and Sidney Ostic and by her son Johnny Bogard.

Leo Padget will officiate at the services. Burial will follow in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pall Bearers wil be; Billy Bogard, Bruce Bogard, Robert J. Bogard, James Horcasitas, Mike Lerke,and Todd Lerke.

The family suggests for those who wish, donations may be made, in memory of Elsie Lerke, to: Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital Hospice Unit, 8300 Constitution, NE, Albuquerque, N.M. 87110.
