Sherill Jean Maxwell Caputo Bauer, died peacefully Friday at her home in Swansboro, NC. She was 71. Mrs. Bauer was born in Ossining on May 29, 1935, the daughter of Chester Maxwell and Ethel Meyers Maxwell. She was a graduate of Ossining High School, and worked for many years as a supervisor for New York Telephone in White Plains before her retirement. She married Russell Bauer on April 15, 1983. She was a member of the Ossining Gospel Assembly and volunteered for many years as an advocate for the Americans with Disabilities Association. She will be fondly remembered for her beautiful flower gardens, her love of family and her love of life. She loved the Lord, and the Lord loved her. In addition to her devoted husband, Sherill is survived by four children: Roxanne Halverson, of Wake Forrest, NC, Dawn Caputo, of Haverhill, MA, Diane Delorier, of Emerald Isle, NC and David V. Caputo, of Ossining. Also surviving are seven stepchildren, two granddaughters, one grandson and seven step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 3, from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday, July 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Dorsey Funeral Home. Services will be on Wednesday, 11 am at Ossining Gospel Assembly Church. Interment, Dale Cemetery.
