Daniel Raymond “Dan” Somerfield passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon, May 8, 2019, at his home in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. Dan was 61.

Dan was born on October 5, 1957 in Lancaster city, the son of Walter F. Somerfield (Rosemarie), of Bentley Ridge Blvd., East Lampeter Twp., and Dorothy Mae Brewer Herman (Richard), of Tucquan Glen Rd., Holtwood. Dan lived his entire life in Lancaster County. He received a diploma from J. P. McCaskey High School and he worked for Tyson Foods, of New Holland, and Hanover Foods, of Lancaster city.

Dan is survived, besides his parents, by his companion of over 30 years, Dorothy Nesinger; daughter, Mary Ann; siblings, Deborah A. Somerfield Middleton (William), of East Petersburg, Jeffrey D. Somerfield, of East Lampeter Twp., and Mark R. Somerfield, of Mountville; nephews and nieces; step-siblings, Tammy Herman Shambaugh (Brian) of Millersville, Jenny Herman of Conestoga, and John and Bob Alexander. One uncle, William G. Brewer, of East Lampeter, and one aunt, Leah Somerfield Welk, of Lancaster, also survive.

One of Dan’s interests, in his early years, was rock music. At one point he owned close to a thousand vinyl records of all kinds. He also enjoyed classic movies, his favorite channel being Turner Classic Movies. He had hundreds of VHS tapes and DVDs. His knowledge of movies and actors was extraordinary. He was also a big fan of Game of Thrones.

No funeral service is planned. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
