OBITUARY
LeRoy Edward Eddie Barker, 77, died Friday, January 18, 2013 in Wichita Falls, TX after a sudden illness. Memorials services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2012 at Lunns Colonial Chapel with Dr. David Hartman, pastor of First Christian Church officiating. Arrangements are under the ion of Lunns Colonial Funeral Home.
 He was born to LeRoy and Adelia Moore Barker in Chickasha,OK on January 6,1936. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Goldwater and sister Diana Bynum. Eddie attended schools in Sayre and Altus, OK. He began his journalism career in high school at the radio station KWHW in Altus, OK. He moved to Wichita Falls, TX in April 1957, to work at KWFT 620AM radio. He was drafted into the U.S. ARMY shortly after his arrival in Wichita Falls. One of the first people he met was a beautiful redhaired young woman named Ethel Goldwater, a reporter at the Wichita Falls Record News. They were married on December 20, 1958 in Altus, OK. Ethel lost her courageous battle against Multiple Sclerosis in 2010. They were happily married for 52 years.
 After Eddie completed his military service, they returned to Wichita Falls. He applied at WFRN where Ethel had previously worked and, to his surprise, was hired as a copy editor. Eddie graduated from Midwestern University in May 1971, where his interest in technology and computers led him to earn a B.S. in Physics. He served 37 years at Times Record News, previously known as Wichita Falls Record News. He served in various jobs including assistant city editor, wire editor, news editor, and editorial page editor. He retired from WFRN in 1998. Eddie was an avid reader and enjoyed many hobbies including photography, woodworking, and computing. 
He is survived by two sisters, Gay Graves and Terrie White, both of Oklahoma City, OK, two nieces, Janet Graves and Tiffany Bestwick, two nephews, Scott Graves and Wesley White, many great nieces and nephews, special friends Jessica and Millie Lazo, and his godson Trey Morris of Weatherford, Texas. Other survivors include Beth and David Maywald, Linda Rea, Beverly Shaffer and a host of friends whom he loved dearly.
