Alvin N. Brookens, 62, of 151 11th St., Renovo, died yesterday at 11:10 a.m. in the Lock Haven Hospital where he had been a patient since Feb. 26.
Mr. Brookens was a painter for the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring in 1966 after 25 years service. He had been self-employed as a painter and paperhanger until he became ill.
Born Nov. 15, 1907, in St. Marys, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brookens. His mother was Anna Hevner.
Mr. Brookens lived most of his life in Renovo after early years in Farrandsville. He was married to Laura Van Wart who preceded him in death. Their daughter is Mrs. Ray Olmstead, Lock Haven.
On Feb. 14, 1938 he married the former Lucille Lucas in Beech Creek. She survives with seven children of that marriage.
Mr. Brookens was a member of Grace Baptist Church, North Bend, the F and A.M. lodge 495, Renovo, and the F.O.E. No. 516, Renovo.
Surviving are his wife, five sons, Raymond E. [Son of Lucille Lucas], and Anson N. [Son of Lucille Lucas], Lock Haven; Ronald W., at home; Gary L. Renovo; Alvin J., at home; three daughters, Mrs. Olmstead [Shirley Yvonne-Daughter of Laura Van Wert], Mrs. Mahlon Bilbay [Dianne Yvonne-Daughter of Lucille Lucas], Lock Haven; and Mrs. Cloyd Mills [Sandra Kay Daughter of Lucille Lucas], at home
Also one sister, Mrs. Samuel Eschenbach, Endicott, N.Y., three brothers, Arthur T., Florida; Anson R., and Myron L., Renovo; 18 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL-BROOKENS-Services for Alvin N. Brookens, 62, of 151 11th St., Renovo, who died at 11:10 a.m. March 3, 1970 in the Lock Haven Hospital, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Moriarty Funeral Home, Renovo. The Rev. Robert Paul will officiate. Interment Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven. Masonic memorial service 7:30 p.m. Thursday F.O.E. service, 8 p.m. Moriarty Funeral Home, Renovo.
