James Cole grew up in Graham, Texas. He was a well known athlete. He fought in the Golden Gloves while living in Fort Worth. He was known as "Bill" to his family and "Jim" to most of his friends. He served in the US Army Air Corps in World War II and was a D-Day Normandy veteran. Mr. Cole worked at ARMCO Steel until 1981. After retiring, he enjoyed playing golf and helping run and maintain the Channelview Golf Club.
Survived by his wife - Colleen Cole; three sons - Jim Cole, John Cole, Bob Cole; seven granddaughters; four sisters - Beulah Brown, Juanita Arnold, LeDelia "Dee" Drum, Nell Ray Hardesty.
