Bob was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Catawba County, to the late Lawrence Baxter and Edith Carlton Bolick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Herman Bolick; one brother; and and sister.
He attended Temple Baptist Church, was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy, and retired from Gaines Motor Lines as an office manager. After retirement, he continued his golf repair business, which he had enjoyed for many many years and also, enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his daughters, Gail Whisnant and husband, Jeff, of Stone Mountain, Ga., Marcia Craig and husband, Albert, of Blowing Rock and Cheryl Jones and husband, Richard, of Hickory; granddaughters, Andrea Whisnant and husband, Daniel, of Decatur, Ga. and Julie Craig, of Blowing Rock; grandsons, Wesley Craig, of Blowing Rock and Ricky Jones, of Hickory; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Campbell and husband, Fred, of Conover.
A private graveside service was held Friday, Jan. 11, at Catawba Memorial Park.
