WM LEAZENBY, LONG A RESIDENT OF KANORADO, DIES SUDDENLY ON STREET

William Leazenby died very suddenly last Thursday and it was a great surprise to the entire community. He had gone to the store two blocks from his home and on the way back, one block from his home, he fell unconscious, and death came as he was being carried home.

William Leazenby was born in Carroll County, Indiana, April 7, 1848, and departed this life Jan. 6, 1921, aged 72 years, 8 months, and 30 days. He was united in marriage to Lucinda C Brandenburgh, April 4, 1880, and to this union were born five children, three daughters and two sons. The sons died in infancy.

Mr Leazenby moved to Sherman County, Kans., in the year 1887, and had resided here ever since. He worked for the Rock Island railroad for eighteen years, was janitor of the Kanorado schools four years, and has worked as a shoe cobbler for Kanorado and vicinity many years. He was always kind and accommodating and will be greatly missed by everyone. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, three daughters, one step-daughter, two sisters, two brothers, and twenty grandchildren, other relatives and his many friends.

His two daughters, Mrs Maude Bryan, Ruleton, Kans., Mrs Millie Koenig, Red Cloud, Nebr., and step-daughter, Mrs Jay Penfold, of Fort Lupton, Colo., were present at the funeral, also his nephews and nieces, Mr and Mrs Carl Dawson, Bert and Oscar Leazenby, all of McClave, Colo., and the J M Harmon family of Kanorado, all were present. His brothers, Isaac and Jacob Leazenby, of Logansport, Ind., and sister, Mrs Sarah Leazenby, also of Logansport, Grandma Welsh of Kanorado, and one daughter, Mrs Laura Johnson, Hunter, Mo., were not present.

The funeral services were conducted in the Kanorado Christian Church by Edgar J White, assisted by Rev Meads. Interment was made in the Kanorado Cemetery.

The Goodland Republic

On Thursday Wm Leazenby, an old and highly respected citizen was stricken with heart failure on his return to his home from the post office and died almost instantly. Mr Leazenby has lived in this vicinity many years and it is with regret that so sad an affair occurred.

The funeral of William Leazenby was held Sunday afternoon from the Christian Church in Kanorado. The Rev Miss Edgarda White preached the funeral sermon which was very appropriate and listened to by a large congregation. Mr Leazenby has lived in this vicinity for 34 years and worked during that time for the Rock Island road at this place 18 years.

While Mr Leazenby never made a loud protestation of religion, he never missed a Sabbath at church and held a high regard for religion and there is no doubt about his life being fashioned after the manner as applied by the "Golden Rule."

Every one in this vicinity held Mr Leazenby in the highest regard and the community has lost a very valuable and upright man by his sudden death.
